Will the Anti Cigarette Law in the United Kingdom Take Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

A lot has been written in the press recently concerning the bingo industry struggling because of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have grown so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded huge aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. But will the web adaptation of this classic game provide a salvation, or might it not compare to its real life peer?

Bingo is an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game recently had undergone a recent increase in appeal with younger members of society opting to hit the bingo parlours in place of the bars on a weekend. This is all about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the anti smoking law around Britain.

No more will enthusiasts be permitted to smoke at the same time dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public locations will no longer be permitted to allow smoking in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most common places where many people like to smoke.

The results of the anti cigarette law can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the business is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Obviously they have not deserted this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. People are now realizing that they can participate in bingo using their computer whilst enjoying a drink and cigarette and still enjoy huge jackpots. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti smoking law.

Of course betting on online is unlikely to replace the communal aspect of going over to the bingo hall, but for a demographic of people the rules have left many bingo enthusiasts with no choice.
